"Lin`, or Jewels of the Third Plantation," is a very early history of certain individuals that settled in Saugus, Swamscott, and Lynn, Massachusetts, in 1629 continuing through the 17th century. In the history, Mr. James R. Newhall quotes from the period journal that he has acquired written by Obdiah Turner. We offer a tiny sample here: "1632, Aprl ye 28: Itt being ye dutie of each generation to keep ye tyde of blessings rolling on to benefit ye next." Page 60. "1663. Decemr ye 10:....And besides, ones religion is a matter betwixt him and his God. He should be let alone so long as he injureth not and interfereth not wth others;...." Page 83. |
